Text Box: Looking Back  *We hope you had a wonderful break spending some quality time with your family. Life gets so busy sometimes we forget to enjoy some of those special moments!  *In December we spent much time reading different versions of the story about The Gingerbread Man.  They really enjoyed listening to each version and after reading each version we made many contrasts and comparisons in each story. We then made our own gingerbread man out of dough and put him in the oven. We didn’t even peek and he still ran away, but we found him in the office and then ate him before he got the chance to run away again.  *I hope you are enjoying the new winter scene display that the children worked so hard on in steps.  They began by painting the board with blue paint and then added white puffy paint for the snow and then made snowmen out of model magic to add to the snow. They completed it with making their own gingerbread men to add to the background along with a variety of stamps and dipping them into white paint.  I will also add the photos for each step it took the class to make this. They did a great job!    Project News Our pizza project has started out with many exciting activities. Please check out our project board to see all of the things we have done with it so far. We are looking forward to continuing this project in January.  

Text Box: Looking Ahead and Reminders   *We want to thank all of you for all your help and support in our class by bringing needed items in for recipes and projects. If there is anything you would like to come in and share with our class, please let us know! We would also like to continue having parents and grandparents come read a story to our class.  *If Discovery School is closed to weather conditions, it will be announced on TV Channels 2 and 5. Occasionally, Discovery School will be open to “Extended Day Only” which does not include our class.  Happy Birthday  Evan- January 27th   Calendar January 16th- No School -Martin Luther King’s Birthday    Enrichment Goals 1.     Read books by Jan Brett.    2.   Experience a variety of printing activities. 3.    Expand work with clay to pinch pots and        coil pots. 4.    Learn about orchestral music with       appropriate classical examples and       about families of instruments: strings,       brass, woodwinds and percussion.
